JD Leonard

JD Leonard. Singer/songwriter originally from Bristol, TN. JD grew up in NC and is now living/working as a musician and songwriter in NY. Performing over 250 shows a year, he spends his time between performances writing for other artists, film and his own artistry. JD has written singles for the likes of Bonnie Tyler and placed a number of songs in over a dozen films in the past few years alone.

JD’s latest full album, Just Drive was made with Nashville legend, David Huff and recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville. The title track and lead off single, “Just Drive” caught the attention of Billy Joel guitarist, Tommy Byrnes, who joined the band soon after. They then went back to Nashville to finalize the record. In a recent interview, JD said, “The momentum was almost magical pre-Covid. Press, newspaper spreads, radio, touring were all beginning when the world stopped.”

JD is currently touring with new material and a new lineup of musicians. His band is killer! “I’m so honored and proud to share the stage with these guys.” The core band is Mike Sorrentino (Ritchie Blackmore, Nine Days and Mike DelGuidice), Lenny Rocillo (Bonnie Tyler, Joe Lynn Turner), Carmine Giglio (Leanne Rimes), with a rotation of amazing hired guns with equally impressive resumes. Tommy Byrnes (lead guitarist for Billy Joel) still works with the band when not on tour with Billy Joel. This lineup has shared the stage with Tyler Farr, Michael McDonald, Blues Traveler and Edgar Winter, to name a few.
